Wowwww! I have SO MANY thoughts (and photos!!) to share from this engagement session! My connection to Madelyn is actually a funny series of events. Last year, I did a graduation session giveaway and Madelyn’s friend won. When it came time for the engagement session giveaway, this friend recommended she enter to win and she DID?!?! I use a random selector so this is truly a wild coincidence! After talking on the phone, Madelyn and Evan decided to book their whole wedding with me and I seriously am SO EXCITED!!!!

There is something else unique about their particular session! This was the first time I utilized the brand new “Story Call” (read more about my recent wedding experience updates here!) which means we got to do a video chat together for about an hour so that I could hear all about their stories. I knew that photographing my couples meant telling their true stories and this could only happen authentically if I actually know who they are!

One of the things that most inspired me about their story together is Madelyn said she feels like they’ve grown up together in many ways. Although they met in college at UGA, they’ve watched each other grow in their relationships with the Lord and in their characters in some really impactful ways! After talking with them, I wrote down a few things I knew would be important to show in their photos:

History. They have a history together of accepting one another through anything, making life changes together and supporting each other through becoming the people they want to be.
Joy Bomb! Madelyn’s personality JUMPED off my computer screen the second we started video chatting and I knew I wanted to capture that in the photos.
Driven Stability. One of the things Madelyn seemed to admire the most about Evan is how much he is the “calm to her storm” as she put it. If he puts his mind to something, it’s happening.
Admiration & Friendship. Although on the surface their personalities may seem different, at the core, they both seem to have a deep admiration for who each other is and they work to build that up in each other. Their friendship is just as deep as their romantic love for each other which I loved getting to show in their photos!!
