ENGAGEMENT SESSION | THOMAS FARM PRESERVE & ANDY’S FROZEN CUSTARD | ATHENS, GEORGIA

I am absolutely DYING to share these photos!!! This engagement session is the perfect example of why I love taking my couples through a thorough process of getting to know each other before we ever get to their engagement session (and especially wedding day!) Not only did it feel like meeting two old friends at their session, but I knew them well enough to suggest a bit of an unconventional spot simply because it means a lot to them and their relationship. When I say “get to know each other”, I don’t just mean a little chat so I know their favorite restaurants, I mean I want to know the story we’re telling together – who is important, what part of their relationship are we highlighting, how can I support them in feeling natural on camera? All of these things are different for each couple, so it isn’t just a one-size-fits-all process!

My goal with every couple isn’t to make them fit some mold of “what makes a great photo”, but to get to know who they are so that when they look at their photos, they think… “THAT’S US!” One of the things Caroline mentioned she loved most about her relationship with Rob is the way he brings her peace and brings out the playful side of her! As you scroll through these, I think you’re going to see that very thing coming through about these two!

Ok let me just tell y’all about this moment. There were storms threatening to mess up their session ALL DAY.. normally I would recommend a reschedule, but they aren’t normally in town so we needed this day to work. Caroline said that throughout her life, God tends to speak to her through rainbows – they show up to give her peace and let her know things were going to be okay. I kid you not.. WHILE she was saying this, we noticed a rainbow show up behind their heads!!!! We all freaked out and starting shooting even more!! Then she turned and there was the other end!!!

THESE! This felt like one of my favorite moments where they got to truly be themselves and have fun together! I love it.

Ok.. now we got to do something super unconventional but so fun! One of Caroline + Rob’s go to date night spots is Andy’s Frozen Custards, so we decided to their session in a completely fun, comfortable way by visiting this spot! We worked some photography magic through the crowd of people and I am so obsessed with these!!
