I love getting to serve so many Athens, Georgia area brides year after year and one of the main ways I do this is through their engagement sessions! Athens is an area that has so many hidden gem, unique engagement session locations you wouldn’t expect.

In this blog post, I’m sharing with you some of my absolute FAVORITE locations in the Athens and Watkinsville, Georgia area for engagement sessions that you can steal for yours, too.

1. UGA North Campus

The University of Georgia North Campus is one of the most beautiful locations Athens, Georgia has to offer! It’s one of the top locations for engagement sessions because it is always beautiful no matter what season you plan your engagement in. You don’t have to be worried about a winter engagement session looking drab when you choose this location! PS – I typically try avoiding college-y looking areas unless my couples actually met at UGA.

2. North Deck Rooftop

This one certainly falls under the category of a hidden gem, unique location for an Athens, Georgia engagement session! While to some, it may look like just a parking deck, it actually has one of the best rooftop views in the Classic City overlooking the Athens downtown skyline! Sunset portraits here are some of the best.

3. Downtown Athens

I especially love this option for couples who met in Athens and feel the location plays a role in their story! There are a couple options for how to capture the classic Athens downtown backdrop that I love!

4. Athens City Hall

Another hidden gem location for brides that want a more urban, modern look during their session. This location gives an elopement vibe for some fun, upbeat portraits!

5. The Athens Botanical Gardens

The State Botanical Gardens in Athens, Georgia is an absolutely beautiful option for engagement photos! There is always a new, unique angle or location every time I go that captures beautiful gardens, greenery and flowers.

6. The Athens Botanical Gardens Fields

This is a hidden gem within the Botanical Gardens – a little field for a more candid, free look. The field is occasionally mowed, so it’s important to check beforehand and have a backup plan just in case. I especially love this location for fall engagement sessions in Athens!

7. Thomas Farm Preserve in Watkinsville, GA

This location is brand new and has a water element with it’s pond for an engagement session backdrop as well as a Southern charm feel with glowy sunset and greenery!

8. Founder’s Gardens

This little tucked away garden near the University of Georgia North Campus is a dreamy location for anyone wanting the “secret garden” feel for their session. It’s not only classy and formal, but secluded and quiet. It’s become one of my go-tos for the formal outfit portion of engagement sessions!
