Oh my GOSH! This wedding day will forever be one of my favorites! Saturday’s wedding showed 100% chance of rain and thunderstorms – in fact, it DID rain the entire day just an hour away from the venue. However, we had the BIGGEST blessing of no rain until the ceremony! Because Mackenzie and Jake did a first look, we were able to complete ALL of their photos outside before the rain started.

Before entering into full time wedding photography, I was on staff at the UGA Wesley Foundation in Athens, GA where I met Mackenzie! I led her freshmen mission trip to Mandeville, Jamaica and we bonded while painting schools, riding the bus and finding out we’re both from “the middle of nowhere”.

(If you went to UGA, you know that it seems like every other person is from “somewhere near Atlanta”, so finding a fellow south/middle Georgia local is always fun!)

These ladies were SO MUCH FUN! I love when a group of girls intentionally take the back seat and choose to SERVE the bride to make her wedding day as amazing as possible! Mackenzie seemed relaxed and excited the entire day.

I LOVE these!!

We weren’t sure if the rain would hold off for wedding party photos – in fact, it was thundering while we took these! BUT.. the forecast kept pushing the rain off more and more and I’m SO GLAD it did!! I loveee this location with their colors!

Alright.. story time! I debated on what images to share from their ceremony because I wouldn’t recommend getting rained on during your ceremony to the majority of couples. For most couples.. that would be stressful and not a fun memory, but to this couple.. it actually MADE the wedding a lot of fun!!

While I strapped an umbrella into my rain jacket so I could have both hands available, I was laughing and saying to my second shooter.. “why is this so much fun?! it feels like all the rules are broken and I love it!”

It was one of those moments where the formalities and stress of a ceremony went out the window and the RELATIONSHIP and memories came to the forefront.

So *disclaimer*, if you’re a bride and this doesn’t look exciting.. don’t risk it! But I wanted to share A LOT from this ceremony because it was such a memorable part of the day!
