THE SHACKLEFORD HOUSE | ALBANY, GA | WEDDING DAY

Honestly, I’m not even sure where to start?! This wedding day was a gorgeous breath of fresh air – filled with peace, great weather (despite the threat of a hurricane) and the sweetest people you’ll ever meet! Jade and Grey’s wedding day took place at The Shackleford House in Albany, Georgia on a gorgeous October day. At the beginning of the week, the weather said 100% chance of rain all day, but on the actual wedding day, it was BRIGHT & sunny! (Note to brides: don’t obsess over the weather until a few days before!! Have a great rain plan and then let the rest go).

You may remember Jade and Grey from their sunrise, lake engagement session back in the spring – we got to do this at Lake Blackshear near where my parents live! If you’ve followed along for awhile, you know I love getting to photograph 1-2 weddings/engagements a year in South Georgia so we can make a grandparent weekend out of it. This time, my second shooter (and best friend) and I brought all FOUR of our kids (all under age 3!!) for the entire weekend. Our husbands crushed dad-duty alongside my parents who took the kids on many (MANY) mule rides while we were photographing Jade and Grey say “I do!”

We began the day at The Shackleford House with details and getting ready photos! PS – Jade was a rockstar #MHbride and had all her details nicely organized for me when I arrived! This is just one small tip included in their Bridal Guide Magazine they receive after booking 🙂

Their first look was so sweet! If you’ve followed me for ANY amount of time, you know I LOVE first looks.I mean.. every photographer loves them because they help create the most stress-free timelines, but I also love them because they always ENHANCE that walk-down-the-aisle moment later. During Jade and Grey’s first look, Grey was so sweet and excited to see his GORGEOUS bride! You’ll see later during the ceremony, that this only added to the reality of the moment. Grey was definitely teary-eyed for that official moment. More on first looks here.

I don’t always get the opportunity for such beautiful, well-lit in door photos, but I loveee these! They’re so unique. The Shackleford House makes for perfect classy, elegant portraits.

Their wedding party was so much fun! When I saw on Jade’s questionnaire that they were going to have 28 (!!!) people in their wedding party, I was a little concerned we would be rushed to get the photos done, but these people were TIMELY. I was impressed. Not only that, but they were so generously taking care of the bride and groom and making sure their entire day was fun and stress-free!

Back at The Shackleford House, we began cocktail hour. As soon as we began walking towards the venue, the breeze was flowing, their live band was playing romantic classics and guest laughter was in the air. I turned to my best friend (& second shooter) and said “These moments are why I LOVE wedding days!!” I love the relaxed, romantic vibes the cocktail hour and reception bring!

And my all time favorite time of the day.. Signature Portraits!!! This moment is why we were able to arrive early to the wedding day to provide plenty of time for a stress-free process, but still stay within 8 hours. Signature Portraits mean we prioritize getting unique, epic portraits as your final portraits of the day which allows you the freedom to start your coverage earlier and not need the exit to provide a last epic portrait.
